Madden's bristling blues fascinate...
West Michigan's Bruce Madden doesn't follow the rules, or at least not the
rules for what passes as normal in modern blues music. And thank goodness
for that.

Who'd have figured
that the soft spoken and unfailingly polite Bruce Madden would be transformed into a new
millennium version of Jim Morrison when he grabbed a microphone, strapped on his guitar
and laid his mouth on his harmonica for this disc?

...well played harp through a small amp (nice distortion) and sort of talk/vocals. I do
like the aggressive attitude and drive. Coffin Bone-regular boogie groove with no changes.
Again, attractive tough sounding harp. Interesting spacey guitar toward the end. Christian
Deformed Blues-love the guitar distortion. Simple dirty slide. Razor's Edge-Your first
slide solo; simple but not bad.
A Dream Unrefined-I like the way you're singing parallel with your guitar line.
Talking With The Angels-distorted harp with a lot of delay but clean vocals. Lyrically,
this of course, isn't up our alley but it works on its own terms.

"Your cd is very cool. A "Thinking man's party album!" I like the
bluesy, grungy, gritty aspect of the sound... traditional sounding but with a modern edge.
It rocks from beginning to end. Good stuff!"

Guitarist for Aqua Velvets

"Interesting stuff! The first few tracks have a rough, Fat Possum label
sound (that's fine by me!). Tracks 6, 7 and 8 made me stare at the CD player to
see if I was listening to Jim Morrison (!!!) and maybe some outtakes
of recordings by The Doors ! That's interesting in itself because I
went to high school in L.A. in the 1960s when The Doors were one of
the great "local club bands" just before they broke nationally. I
saw them at the Hollywood Bowl in the summer of 1968.
I'm sure a few of these tracks will find their way onto my playlist
soon. Thanks for sending the CD."

"I dig your Beefheart/Morrison growl. The production brings out the animal
in your voice! I enjoyed the harp on "Coffin Bone (and the) nice ripply effect in the
harmonica in "Two Fallen Angels."

"We will be airplaying(&)webcasting your "We'll All Be Gone" from
your "Talking With The Angels" album. Your music, with a world of it's own,
feels raw and very avant garde."

"Here is a (soldier) from (the) planet blues-rock. Even if the melodies lack
sometimes a little consistency (and this is not the most important one in
the blues), the entirety of the album wants itself dedicated to dusty rock
drawing inspiration in the roots of blues. (Songs) Still Not Satisfied or UFO Louisiana: a
sound to balance in the deep cosmos! To discover absolutely. It's a great pleasure for me
to promote your songs on my radio show."
